A glorious ceremony was enjoyed. There was " guest participation" in a variety of forms: laughter, tears, emergency sweets for a "first aid"moment, collective support and a gentle heckle 😜! "Community" meaning " a group or groups of people "Community" meaning " a group or groups of people living in the same place who share common attitudes and interests." And on Monday, the spirit of community was evident in abundance as 1500 lined the street of Ilkley to cheer on the parade as Ilkley Carnival 2025 got underway!! It literally warmed my heart to see, and speak to, and cheer on the huge number of participants in the parade - cadets marched, samba -bands "samba'd (a made up word, sorry!), the fire engine siren'ed (new verb, "to siren!") and all of the local schools looked absolutely magnificent in their fancy dress outfits. The judges, MP @_robbiemoore , Ilkley Town Mayor@damiankearns and his wife and Suzanne@approachpr had the unenviable task of finding a winner from this incredible spectacle after which they waved to the crowds as they travelled towards East Holme Fields to hand out the awards. A huge amount of credit and thanks must go to the @Ilkley Carnival Committee who spent the year preparing for, and organising such a special event. Generations of families will have thoughts of Ilkley Carnival tucked into their own treasure-box of memories from its inception in 1988! The theme was Past, Present and Future or indeed.......... Did we raise the roof @piccolinos rooftop terrace Did we raise the roof @piccolinos rooftop terrace last Saturday?? Too right we did 😉🌟🫶 I have never been to a party like it before! Family and friends of little R were warmly invited to welcome and celebrate three- year old R into their hearts and into their community. And what a service of love it was. The promises made by each of the Godparents were individual to their relationship with R and true to themselves. And R, without prompting, came and stood at the front with each of his Godparents as they added their own coloured sand to his special glass jar. A kiss was placed on his sweet little head after the sand was poured creating a unique sand picture as a keepsake of his very special day. And what a wonderful reading by J, big brother to R, who clearly loves him so dearly. Everyone bestowed love and life wishes on R and his family just before R sank his teeth into his minion cake ! 🍰🎂🎁 The roof on the terrace was open and the bubble of love extended upwards and outwards! Utter joy 💃🪇💃 And as for the live entertainment....
